Vampire: The Masquerade - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Created by Mark Rein-Hagen, Vampire: The Masquerade was the first of White Wolf Game Studio's World of Darkness live-action and role playing games, based on the Storyteller System and centered around vampires in a modern Gothic-Punk world.
Characters within the Vampire setting are members of one of the clans or minor bloodlines offered, and usually belong to factions associated with these or that reflect a general ideological stance the characters happen to share.
The more superstitious see the growing numbers of these vampires as an omen of the coming Gehenna, the Final Nights of prophecy when all childer of Caine will be destroyed.

Remember, vampires are despised, as are all things that hint of necromancy, and have been hunted nearly to extinction.
A: [Mark Nelson] It might be possible to create a spell that regenerates a good number of hit points for an extended period of time, but in order to completely offset the damage sunlight does, it would have to be a very powerful spell, requiring high skill and lots of magicka.
The politics between the vampire clans is as intricate as with the Great Houses, and it would be a lot of fun for me to be able to really develop that.

When a master vampire is part of a pack feeding and the victim dies, in three days they will rise from the dead as a an animalistic vampire; a revenant.

Marrying the marks involves closing the holes at one's chakra points, the points at which each participant in the triumvirate is linked to the other.

A: [Mark Nelson] The vampires in Morrowind are not dead, but they are not exactly alive, either.
Knowing this, one of my goals was to design vampire play that could be expanded upon in the future, but would still be fun for this game.
Vampire roleplaying in Morrowind is probably more suited for the more hack 'n' slash types, not those interested in talking their way through problems (though I've written a ton of dialogue for the vamp quests).

But now, almost 40 years after his death, almost 60 years after Mark of the Vampire, almost 65 years after Carroll wrote Countess Dracula and had read it to Bela as he ate doughnuts and sipped coffee on her family's couch, Bela Lugosi was back - so Carroll believed.
It was a promise being made by an actor Carroll had always loved, had always idolized as "the most wonderful man in the world." The proof of the promise is in the hands of the reader.

VAU: Folklore: History of the Vampire
The interesting, distinguishing mark of the vampire is that unlike other "monsters", the vampire has its roots in nearly every part of the world.
Interrment of supected vampires was done with special precautions, such as driving a nail into the forehead of the corpse, smearing the body with pig's fat, or placing a clove of garlic in its mouth.
Music also gave the vampire publicity, especially in the late 1980's...bands like Concrete Blonde, the Cure, Type O negative and so on all wrote several songs about vampires and most had a genral gothic or dark sound to their style in general.

MGM’s Mark of the Vampire/The Vampires of Prague is a remarkable example of the phenomenon, in that it not only features Bela Lugosi playing a vampire who is his famous interpretation of Count Dracula in all but name, but also has Dracula director Tod Browning running the show.
Police inspector Neuman (Lionel Atwill, from The Vampire Bat and The Mystery of the Wax Museum) has little use for the doctor’s diagnosis that Sir Karell was the victim of a vampire attack, but he seems to be alone in his skepticism.

Belief in vampires has existed from the earliest times and has given rise to an amalgam of legends and superstitions.
The vampire could be warded off with a variety of charms, amulets, and herbs and could finally be killed by driving a stake through its heart or by cremation.
Sometimes the vampire assumed a nonhuman shape, such as that of a bat or wolf (see lycanthropy).

A vampire hunter (Jack MacGowran) and his inept assistant (Roman Polanski) conspire to rescue the beautiful Sarah (Sharon Tate) from the clutches of the evil Count von Krolock (Ferdy Mayne), a vampire who has been terrorizing the local village.
Polanski, however, takes the traditional vampire myth and spins some hilarious new variations on it, like his introduction of both a Jewish vampire (he's immune to the sign of the cross) and a homosexual bloodsucker into the plot.
Most striking of all is the way Polanski is able to transition smoothly from knockabout slapstick sequences to scenes that are genuinely dark and disturbing, like von Krolock's descent through the snow-covered skylight as Sarah takes her bath.

Mark of the Vampire is the final offering on this two CD set and this final score is similar to the style of some of Fried's music for the Star Trek television series, with pulsating brass crescendo's and unsettled strings.
This CD is a strange choice for this series, but an obvious labour of love by all who contributed to its production, but I feel that serious collectors may be more pleased with this purchase than the average film music listener.
