Apple Keeps x86 Torch Lit with 'Marklar'
The project (code-named Marklar, a reference to the race of aliens on the "South Park" cartoons) has been ongoing inside Apple since the early days of its transition to the Unix-based Mac OS X in the late '90s.
Sources said more than a dozen software engineers are tasked to Marklar, and the company's mainstream Mac OS X team is regularly asked to modify code to address bugs that crop up when compiling the OS for x86.
Build numbers keep pace with those of their pre-release PowerPC counterparts; for example, Apple is internally running a complete, x86-compatible version of Jaguar, a k a Mac OS X 10.2, which shipped last week.

Marklar is not used as a conjunction or article, nor is it normally used in the place of a pronoun, although pronouns may reference marklar.

Marklar, Apple's project to build a version of Mac OS X for Intel processors, may be of more strategic importance to the company than had previously been thought.
Marklar would have no such limitations built in, allowing Apple to appeal to Windows users frustrated by the restrictions on how they use their computers.
Marklar itself is understood to be at an advanced stage of development, with builds matching those of the PowerPC OS X. Apple's bundled applications, including iTunes and iChat, have versions that run on the product.

The Marklars use the word marklar as a generic word, similar to a pronoun, that can refer with specificity to any thing, place, person, idea, concept, or otherwise represent the meaning of any noun, including proper nouns.
For some unknown reason, this serves as no problem for the aliens of this planet; just as humans are able to understand homophones based on context, the Marklars seem to understand their language fine.
This is demonstrated when the speaking Marklar, Marklar, simply said, "Marklar," and one particular Marklar stepped out of the crowd, knowing somehow that he was the one being referenced.

Sure, people will want to buy Marklar if they can run it on their current computer, but that would about kill their hardware sector (who would want to buy apple's except for looks and a little bit more compatibility if they can get a cheap windows machine that runs OS X?).
If they released Marklar, they would be in a win-win situation - if it failed, they wouldn't have lost out on the large market share they already have.
