It is in a collection of villages called the Teys consisting of Great Tey and Little Tey.

Marks Tey has a car park on both sides, these are railway owned pay and display (the car park on the down side can be seen from Platform 2), there is also a pickup bay which you can park in for around 20 minutes.
The Marks Tey Hotel is located along the road towards Stanway and Colchester, within minutes of the station, I think its quite expensive though!

I soon met the A120 on the western outskirts of Marks Tey, and I started walking eastwards along it towards the railway station.
As I climbed the road bridge over the Colchester to Chelmsford railway line I got a nice view of Marks Tey church a short distance away over a couple of fields, and this cheered me up slightly for the last few hundred yards to the station.
There are hourly train services from Marks Tey to Braintree, changing at Witham for the Braintree branch line.

 Walk #635: Marks Tey to Manningtree via Colchester
The main aim of the walk was to connect a previous couple of walks eastwards from Bishop's Stortford to Marks Tey with my coastal walk in two places; to the southeast of Colchester on the River Colne, and on the River Stour at Manningtree.
There were a beautiful red sunrise as I drove to Marks Tey, and when I arrived at the long-stay car park next to the station I was relieved to find that it was free to park there at weekends.
There are hourly railway services between Manningtree and Marks Tey; you have to change trains at Colchester.

The 6th April saw us at the Marks Tey racecourse situated along the A12, again for another Pre-65 Motocross Club meeting.
It was a rather miserable day with a very cold wind blowing across the field.
I'm not sure of their positions, though they were midfield finishers, just a little way behind the leading group and they were having some hard fought battles throughout the day.
