In the township the population was spread out with 30.2% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who were 65 years of age or older.
Marlboro Township has two middle schools: Marlboro Memorial Middle School with 877 students, opened in 2003, and is home of the Monarch Lions, with the main school color of maroon, but also with gold and silver added in some contexts.
Marlboro Township has a public high school, Marlboro High School (opened in 1968), home of the Mustangs, which is part of the Freehold Regional High School District as the Business Learning Center.

 Marlboro defends plans for hospital site
MARLBORO -- Township officials last night explained, and at times defended, a proposed redevelopment plan for the now-closed Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital that includes constructing an 18-hole golf course.
The Township Committee adopted a redevelopment plan last month and has until May 12 to submit the proposal to the state although the deadline can be extended, said Stephanie Luftglass, Marlboro's public information officer.
If the township must have a golf course, the civic group contends, then it should be restricted to 105 acres instead of the 214 acres.

Bennett, nominated by Scannapieco to become township attorney in 1992, recommended in 1996 that Scannapieco be named by then-Gov. Christie Whitman to the Victims of Crime Compensation Board, a job that now pays the mayor $104,119 a year.
Because the township was at the end of its budget year, the township administrator at that time requested that the bills be resubmitted in smaller amounts in 2001, which Bennett said he agreed to.
