Before leaving the Marne River at the Somme Creek junction, we sat in the sun behind the shelter of an old stone fence for our morning break.
The river and creek walking, particularly after the river had started flowing, made this one of the most strikingly beautiful walks I have been on in South Australia.

The close-in Marne, and the Marne meander, are, on the whole, quite attractive, but  cannot equal the beauty of the Marne east of Joinville-le-Pont in ride #2.
At the confluence of the Seine and the Marne, opposite the unusual Chinagora Hotel and Restaurant, you pass a socer field on your right; just ahead, there is a small stadium  (the lane you are on will end in 50 meters).  Turn right after the field down a lane closed to traffic.
In either case, your view is of charming small houses, of the Marne, and of some parks across the river.  You pass a few small restaurants, but no other commerce.

It has been brought to my attention that the Marne River, the only stream that makes any real contribution to the Murray River in South Australia, has stopped flowing because of the number of dams that have been placed upon it.
I ask the Treasurer whether he could advise the Council what sort of recovery schemes the government has in mind in terms of the Marne River, the North Para river and other streams that are being put under increasing pressure here in South Australia.
