Marriott International was formed through a distribution of common stock to Marriott Corp. shareholders on Oct. 8.
At year-end, Marriott International had 784 managed and franchised properties with 173,000 rooms and 24 time-sharing resorts, a net gain of 38 hotels with 6,000 rooms, officials said.
Marriott Distribution Services recorded flat operating profit because of start-up costs for new centers as well as an expired contract with several restaurant units previously owned by Marriott.
