This county had a population of seventeen thousand five hundred and twenty-six in 1840, twenty-nine thousand and eighty nine in 1850; twenty-eight thousand eight hundred and twenty-three in 1860, twenty-nine thousand four hundred and sixteen in 1870, twenty-nine thousand three hundred and thirty in 1880, twenty-six thousand and forty-three in 1890.
Marshall county was established February 9, 1836, and was originally settled by a class of planters unusually intelligent, patriotic and public spirited, many of whom became prominent and well known.

 Amboy, Lee County, Illinois
As settlers gradually moved into the area they settled into the communities of Shelburn, which later was called Rocky Ford, and Binghampton to the east.
It was almost three years from the time the original tract had been surveyed and named Amboy until Feb. 16, 1857, when the charter was approved and then adopted at an election held on March 2.
There was a time when it was thought that Amboy may become second in population in the state to Chicago, but with the demise of the railroad those thoughts quickly vanished.

DU provided pipe to four private landowners to restore wetland habitat to nearly 400 acres, bringing the total number of pipe/water control projects in Illinois to five and the total amount of restored wetland habitat to nearly 400 acres.

According to early Marshall County, Illinois birth records and the birth announcements published in the November 28, 1872, issue of the Henry Republican a daughter was "born in Whitefield, Nov. 9, to Henry Lampman." It was in Marshall County, Illinois that Catherine Wolcott Lampman died.
She is presumably buried in Marshall County Illinois.
