This Baltic tjalk was built at Martenshoek in 1893 and transported coal and wood to Denmark for many years.
Later on the ship served as a sailing music school, but in 1980 the tjalk was rebuilt into a 3-star chartership.
Skipper Dries is the epitome of good fun and loves to offer his guests something special, for instance the art of cooking, knotting and walking the mud flats of the Waddenzee.

J Baars from Rhenen ordered the ship to be built by the brothers G. and H. Bodewes in Martenshoek (Groningen NL)
The ship was called “Wiegertje” and was registered till 1904 in Ruhrort, a small place where the Ruhr enters the Rhine, close to Duisburg (Germany).

In July 1960, Captain J.F. Holm, the Holm Shipping Company's general manager, announced that the contract for a replacement vessel had been placed with N.V.Bodewes Scheepswerven B.V. of Martenshoek, Holland.
This was to be the fourth ship built by this Company for Holm's, the others being Holmwood in 1953, Holmglen in 1955 and Holmburn in 1957.

S.S. The last sea going steam tug of the Netherlands.
The FURIE was built in 1916 by G.H.Bodewen at Martenshoek as the "Bodewes 6" and sold to Holmen Bruke in Norrkoping Sweden when she was renamed "Holmen 3"
The ship changed hands again in 1969 to A Akerlund in Stockholm and was named "Holvick", she was used to tow timber rafts to the sawmills.
