Born in New Jersey, Martha Place was struck in the head by a sleigh at the age of 23.
Martha Place was buried in the family cemetery plot in East Millstone, New Jersey without religious observances.

Martha then was employed as a nurse’s aid at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital and later at the Sheboygan VNA, retiring in 1986.
