Martin Charles Horwood (born 12 October 1962, Cheltenham) is the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for the Cheltenham constituency.
Martin was born in St.Paul’s, Cheltenham, in 1962.
Martin went to Oxford University to read Modern History in 1981, and was elected President of the Oxford Student Liberal Society and then Chair of the party’s national student wing, the Union of Liberal Students.

Martin Horwood was born in the old St.Paul’s maternity hospital in Cheltenham in 1962.
Martin always kept in touch with family and friends in Cheltenham and joined groups like the Leckhampton Green Land Action Group (of which his father Don was later chairman) to support the campaign against over-development around the town.
Martin supported local campaigns like the Save Battledown campaign in defence of the children’s ward at the General – and he was a supporter before he was an election candidate, not least because Maya was treated on Battledown ward as an outpatient.

Nigel Jones, who has been a great support to us during his time in Parliament, stood down at this election, and has been replaced as MP for Cheltenham by Martin Horwood.
Martin has already shown his support even before he was elected.
After being the driving force behind the setting up of the link with Kambia, Godfrey and Pauline Taylor decided it was time to take a less active role, and resigned before Christmas.
