Martin Luther (diplomat) (via CobWeb/3.1 planetlab2.netlab.uky.edu)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
Martin Luther (1895 – 1945) was a German diplomat, and an early member of the National Socialist Party.
Luther was a master schemer and plotter, and these qualities lead Ribbentrop to offer him a position in his own foreign policy organization, the Ribbentrop Bureau.
After January 1942, Luther's principal task was to persuade or pressure German satellites and allies to hand over their Jewish populations for deportation to the death camps, a job which he performed with considerable aplomb.

Although "Luther," Eric Till's teeming screen biography of Martin Luther doesn't strain to make parallels between the 16th century and the present, the comparisons between then and now are obvious.
The handsome, fact-filled historical epic, in which a fiery-eyed Joseph Fiennes portrays the father of the Reformation, depicts the events that gave birth to Protestantism as a life-and-death political struggle between a corrupt, repressive, intransigently conservative establishment (the Roman Catholic Church) and a liberal populist movement that spins out of control and wreaks havoc.
Fiennes's lean, handsome Luther, whose appearance resembles kitsch illustrations of a dewy-eyed Jesus, emits a palpable glow of sanctity.
