Both Sharon's parents and Martin Ransohoff disapproved of the relationship; both felt that Forquet would stand in the way of her career.
Sharon wore a fl wig and was unbilled on the show because Ransohoff wanted to make her a movie star, the next Marilyn Monroe, and as he once said, it is almost impossible to launch someone twice.
Ransohoff decided to make this Sharon's big screen debut and secured her the role of Odile, a witch with mysterious powers.

Tate continued to ask Ransohoff to cast her in a film; by 1965 she had been under contract for two years, and had only some minor television appearances to her credit.
As part of Ransohoff's promotion of Tate, he organized for a short documentary to be produced which would be released at the same time as Eye of the Devil.
Ransohoff insisted that Polanski cast Tate, and after meeting with her, he agreed that she would be suitable on the condition that she wore a red wig during filming.

Ransohoff was unhappy about all of these but he caved in on the first two and compromised on the last, agreeing to replace Tate with Tuesday Weld but refusing to change his mind on Ann-Margaret.
This was a few years before the rise of the director as king when producers like Martin Ransohoff still held all the cards and a maverick like Peckinpah could be shafted all the way into unemployment.
What’s unforgivable is that Ransohoff’s squealing to the press led to Peckinpah being persona non grata in Hollywood for three years.

Sharon's "meteoric rise" began in a Los Angeles television studio where, after doing nothing but commercials, she was trying out for a part in "Petticoat Junction." Martin Ransohoff, head of Filmways, the company producing the series, spotted her and signed Sharon to an exclusive seven-year contract.

The Hot Blog: More On The Lansing/Ransohoff Suit
In an MCN headline, the focus on Martin Ransohoff's suit against Sherry Lansing and Paramount for an alleged oral agreement to make a movie and then reneging was on Ransohoff being, essentially, out of the business for the last seven years.
It sounds like Sherry said in a meeting, “Get Morgan Freeman to do it, sweetie, and you have a green light.” Ransohoff got, I guess, Freeman, but it sounds like by the time he did, Paramount was out of the expensive-thriller-with-Morgan-Freeman business and there were no green lights.
Ransohoff, who had an amazing 30 year career, but is now more than 40 years in, had no place else to make his deal… or he’d be making a movie and not suing anyone.

With a two-hour release print, lots of money and the reduction of Heller's many set pieces to just a bare few sequences, Nichols's movie is a disappointment save for its showcase of acting talent in 1970.
Besides Arkin in the starring role, Martin Balsam, Richard Benjamin, Art Garfunkel, Jack Gilford, screenwriter Buck Henry, Bob Newhart, Anthony Perkins, Paula Prentiss, Martin Sheen, Jon Voight, Orson Welles, Bob Balaban and Charles Grodin all have significant supporting parts.
Paul Simon was also cast for the film although his part was written out and it should also be remembered that George C. Scott turned down Balsam's part of Colonel Cathcart because he was convinced he'd already played the role in Dr.

Taut moments grip the audience as the submarine tries to surface through a weak spot in the Polar Ice Cap, and as the submarine crew is confronted with parachuting Russians.
"Ice Station Zebra," directed by John Sturges and produced by Martin Ransohoff, should be commended for its realistic set design.
The recreation of the Polar region gives audiences an authentic view of a part of the world they may never see, a submarine was borrowed from the Navy for filming exterior scenes, but those scenes involving the sub's interior were effectively "built" to give the effect of audience involvement.
