Very nice lake and I was the only one with a boat on it for two days straight.
I did hook into the lake trout record until the trout surfaced for the third time closer to the boat and I noticed it was transformed somewhere during the fight into a bullhead catfish weighing a good 10 to 15 lbs.
I new that the lake had changed a lot from all of your posts, but I figured the bass would still want some of the top water and jig bite I had learned.

But, the people are friendly, the bars are as honky tonk as you can get, and the POINT is to put your watercraft in the water and have a great time on beautiful lakes and the river and then settle down for some good barbeque with your friends and family as the sun sets.
I lived at Martinez Lake for 15 years and I think it is a great place to party and it is wonderful for lake recreation.

Martinez Lake itself is a very large backwater lake of the Lower Colorado River, but the name “Martinez” has become synonymous with the entire length of the river from the Imperial Dam to Blythe.
This stretch of river is nearly eighty miles long from these two points and can be treacherous to navigate during periods of low water.
The river current in the main channel is strong enough to cause sandbars to shift locations, so great care must be taken, even by those familiar with the waterway, when boating on the river.
