 ALS98 PAPERS - Alan Dench
Third, the Martuthunira reflexes of *ku can be compared with those in other languages, with a view to a comparative reconstruction of the history of this particular morpheme.
Since Martuthunira has a phonological history similar to that of Yindjibarndi and Kurrama, it might be expected that its reflexes of *ku would show similar degrees of lenition.
By the typical stress patterns of Pilbara languages, words bear a primary stress on the initial syllable and may, on longer forms, bear a secondary stress on either the penultimate or antepenultimate syllable.

In Martuthunira, the privative case is formed with two suffixes, -wirriwa and -wirraa.
The Russian language does not have an abessive case, but instead uses the genitive case and the participles of negation, most notably "нет" (net, "there is none..").
In the Finnish language, the abessive case is formed with the suffix -tta or -ttä according to vowel harmony.

There has been an overall increase from 224 items in 70 languages to the current 231 items in 76 languages, and the proportion provided by Indigenous sources has risen slightly from 33% to 35%.

LINGUIST List 2.395: Martuthunira demonstratives, Hausa informant   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
Martuthunira Definite Demonstratives I am wrestling with a labelling problem in the description of the demonstrative system in Martuthunira, an Australian language.
Adnominal forms either 'modify' a head nominal in an NP (there is no formal distinction between adjective and noun in this language - whether or not there's a semantic difference is a question of faith), or may be heads themselves.
And in case anyone is tempted to ask, "Can you say...", How would you say,...", I should point out that my intuitions for this language are not that well developed, and the last fluent speaker is 80 years old and somewhere uncontactable in the outback of Western Australia.
