Prisoner (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The series was produced by the Reg Grundy Organisation and ran on Network Ten for 692 episodes from 1979 to 1986.
The first major story arc-defining event in the series is the turf war for top dog status between Bea Smith and Franky Doyle, culminating in a prison riot in which Meg Jackson is held hostage, and her husband, prison psychiatrist Bill Jackson (Don Barker), is stabbed to death by inmate Chrissie Latham (Amanda Muggleton).
Because the series was shown on all ITV companies late at night (just before closedown at first, then as the first programme of night-time programming with the advent of 24-hour broadcasting in the late 1980s), it became a favourite of the local continuity announcers.

Advertised as a top flight action series shown in 158 cities in the US, and 38 countries worldwide, Jungle Jim, the TV series, in retrospect, was cheaply produced and designed to capitalize on its star’s audience appeal.
Marty's mother, Marcella, recalls that her son and the chimp were the best of friends, playing like kids during breaks, and the simian was very protective of him.
Unlike many TV series, The Jungle Jim Show was copyrighted, and Columbia continues to hold television licensing rights until at least 2006.

 Prisoner
In 1978 Watson set out to devise a serial set in a women's prison, in the context of considerable public attention being given in Australia to prison issues generally and to the position of female prisoners in particular.
Their faces, luminously featured as in so much serial melodrama, are shown as grainy and interesting, faces full of character, of signs of hardship and suffering, alternately soft and hard, happy and depressed, angry or bored.
As dramaturgy Prisoner revels in the possibilities of the TV serial form, of cliffhangers at the end of episodes, intensifying melodrama as (in Peter Brooks' terms in The Melodramatic Imagination) an aesthetic of excess.

The fourth Saturday morning TV series produced by puppeteers Sid and Marty Krofft, Land of the Lost was far more serious in tone than their earlier efforts (H.R. Pufnstuf, The Bugaloos, and Lidsville), and far more ambitious.
This may explain why it was the Kroffts' longest-running children's TV program, ultimately lasting three seasons and 43 half-hour episodes.
That said, it must be admitted that the series' first two episodes were more impressive than its third year on the air.
