The Sensational Spider-Man (vol. 2) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Marvel Knights Spider-Man is the name of an ongoing comic book, starring Spider-Man that is published monthly by the Marvel Knights imprint of Marvel Comics.
The underlying difference between this title and the other Spider-Man titles is that Marvel Knights Spider-Man is done with a more mature slant (in style if not content), thus the "Marvel Knights" prefix.
Intended to replace the cancelled Spider-Man's Tangled Web series, Marvel Knights Spider-Man was originally supposed to be written by Kevin Smith, but due to scheduling problems he was replaced by Mark Millar.

Article 10: Return To Old Marvel
Marvel Knights was a vehicle for contracting out some titles to Joe Quesada's Event Comics, and the result was a set of superhero titles that were broadly aimed at a somewhat more adult tone than the rest of Marvel's line.
Marvel Knights continued to have some significance in terms of the backstage arrangements with Event, but in terms of the style and tone of the comics, there was no longer clear blue water between Marvel Knights and the rest of Marvel.
Marvel's other current initiative is the Marvel Age titles, which presumably started their development under the previous administration.

Since its inception two years ago, the Marvel Knights books have always been more cutting edge than the rest of the Marvel line, turning B-list heroes like Daredevil, Black Panther and the Inhumans into top-selling and critically acclaimed champions.
Of course, now that Marvel is launching MAX, a line of comics specifically for older readers, fans might wonder whether Marvel Knights is necessary anymore.

When Marvel decided to go all this-time-with-feeling on four of their regular lines -- Daredevil, The Inhumans, Punisher and Black Panther -- it was hard for a fan of any of these titles (and in my case, three out of four ain't bad) to believe that continuity wouldn't be ruined completely.
