Marvel Mystery Comics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Marvel Mystery Comics (first issue titled simply Marvel Comics) is the first publication of Marvel Comics' predecessor, Timely Comics.
Marvel Comics #1 (Oct. 1939), featured the first appearances of writer-artist Carl Burgos' android superhero, the Human Torch; Paul Gustavson's costumed detective The Angel; Al Anders' Western hero the Masked Raider; and the jungle lord Ka-Zar the Great, with Ben Thompson adapting a character from Goodman's eponymous pulp magazine.
Note: This is a different Marvel Tales than that published by Marvel in starting in the 1960s and primarily reprinting Spider-Man stories.

 Timely Comics
Originally known as Red Circle Comics, the company which would become better known as Timely Comics (and latterly as Marvel Comics) was founded by Martin Goodman in 1939, and debuted with the launch of Marvel Comics #1.
Retitled Marvel Mystery Comics with issue 2, the title was a success, and was soon joined on the stands by other titles, such as Daring Mystery Comics.
As a result, however erroneously, the Marvel Comics of the 1950's became known as Atlas Comics.

Marvel Super-Heroes (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Marvel Super-Heroes is the name of several comic book series and specials published by Marvel Comics, most of which were reprints.
Marvel Super-Heroes became an all-reprint magazine beginning with #21 (July 1969), and a regular-sized comic at the then-standard 20-cent price with #32 (Sept. 1972).
This quarterly series was in part a replacement for the monthly Marvel Fanfare, which had served a similar role.

 Don Markstein's Toonopedia: Marvel Comics
This is the comic that introduced The Human Torch, Sub-Mariner, The Angel, Ka-Zar and other characters to the comics-reading world — but more important, it introduced a company that would eventually grow to be an industry giant.
Marvel Comics may have been the name of the comic (for one issue, anyway — with #2, it became Marvel Mystery Comics), but it wasn't the name of the publisher.
Today, Marvel is still a huge comics publisher, although its biggest rival, DC Comics, has taken full advantage of its weakness to grab market share.

By 1939, several publishers had proven the profit to be made in the comic industry, so Goodman decided to give it a shot.
Marvel Comics #1 (retitled Marvel Mystery Comics by the time the second issue hit the stands) was devoured by an audience eager for original stories about superheroes, and their adventures thrilled readers for a decade.
And when Marvel Comics got back into the superhero business in the 1960s, the writers didn't forget the heroes in that first book that made it all possible, eventually resurrecting the Human Torch, the Sub-Mariner, and Ka-Zar for a new generation of comic readers.
