 Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Capcom vs. SNK plays like the Street Fighter Alpha series, and lacks the trance like special effects found in other "Vs." games, thus it is a more technical fighting game.
Following that, Capcom released Marvel vs. Capcom, which was an extremely addictive fighter that had enormous popularity in the arcades, and a very appealing cast of fighters.
And now, after two and some years, Capcom has finally brought Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on to the PS2, and the game is still as incredible as it was back on the Dreamcast.

GameSpy: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Review
The series culminated in 2000 with the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, a tour de force of 2D sprites, 3D backgrounds and epilepsy-triggering light shows.
Capcom parlayed this success into a whole new series of fighters, first with 1995's Marvel Super Heroes and then with 1996's landmark X-Men vs. Street Fighter.
Mastery of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 comes only by wrapping your head around all of these disparate features and using that knowledge to try to establish some order in the game's rampant chaos.

PlanetDreamcast: Games - Reviews - Marvel vs. Capcom
Capcom has finally brought an arcade perfect port of one of its famed Vs. series games to a US system so now you can finally enjoy all of its butt-kicking goodness at home, and in English no less (wouldn't want to miss out on that witty post-match banter, after all).
Now, years later, Capcom has followed up XMvSF with two sequels, Marvel vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom, each a hit in the arcades.
As I'm sure you're probably aware, Capcom innovated the tag-team for XMvSF and MvSF, allowing you to choose two characters to fight with and tag them in and out of play at any time.

 Morrigan Aensland -
Her rivalry with Nakoruru in the SNK vs. series has one of the deepest storylines, because Nakoruru fights against evil, and she can sense the great negative energy within Morrigan, despite the fact that Morrigan herself is not evil.
One of the many running jokes (and points of criticism) among fans is that she has had the exact same sprite as far as Capcom vs. SNK 2 in 2001 as she did in the original Darkstalkers.
Within the Darkstalkers series, she is considered a Shotoclone, with many of the same fighting techniques and controls as other Capcom shotokan characters, such as Ryu from Street Fighter.

News - EA and Marvel ink superhero deal /// Eurogamer
Fans of the Marvel vs. Capcom series of beat-'em-ups, however, might well point to the series' relative lack of success particularly on Xbox in speculating on the format.
EA and Marvel have signed an agreement which grants the publisher rights to develop and distribute a new generation of beat-'em-ups starring Marvel superheroes and a new, original cast of EA superheroes.
Given that Marvel's troupe of artists and storytellers took years to sculpt the likes of Spider-Man out of the fabrics of their imagination, isn't it a bit much to expect a cast of fully realised and intriguing characters from EA within 18 months?

Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects Preview (Xbox)
The Marvel vs. Capcom series brought some of my last moments of enjoyment from playing a 2D fighting game, but Electronic Arts looks to put a new spin on Marvel fighting titles with Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects.
EA and Nihilistic obviously has a tall task ahead of it as the previous Marvel based fighting game, Marvel vs. Capcom, was an exceptionally well done and vastly accepted piece of Marvel lineage.
The Imperfects are a class much like the usual Marvel based heroines and villains that we’ve all fallen in love with over the years, but have been modeled more as present day, superpower ridden characters rather than the costumed protagonists that we’re used to.

SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom for XBO video game review and cheats
It’s somewhat similar to the Marvel vs. Capcom series in this regard, since a lot of the fun is derived from matching up the favorite fighters from the two companies’ established franchises.
Aside from that, however, there’s not much rhyme or reason as to why Ryu would square off with, say, Spider-Man like in Marvel vs. Capcom.
With SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom, you can finally put these age old questions to rest, and being able to pit these favorite fighters against each other is where a lot of the game’s appeal lies.

To make matters worse, it seems that will never be a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because the two companies parted ways for some unknown but undoubtedly stupid reason.
My guess is that is that Marvel, who were on the brink of bankruptcy when they made their initial licensing deals with Capcom, wanted more money from the game developer after X-Men and Spider-Man made them millions.
