Worth is one of the more colorful producers in town, an intense bespectacled 67-year-old with shoulder-length gray hair, a nervous New York patter and a fondness for expensive, super-trendy clothes by the designer Gianni Versace.
Worth said his obsession with making a film about the life of Malcolm X was based, in large part, on his conviction that the story of the fl leader was a peculiarly American saga.
