District Lakki Marwat is situated in the southern part of NWFP between Bannu and DI Khan districts, extending from 32 –17 to 32 – 53 North Latitudes and 70 - 23 to 71 – 16 East Longitudes.
Lakki Marwat is bounded on the north by Bannu and Karak districts, on the east by Mianwali district of Punjab, on the southeast by DI Khan, on the southwest by Tank and on the west by tribal area adjoining Tank district and South Waziristan Agency
Marwats are descendants of the Lohani sub tribe.

 Marwat
Marwat مروت, a well known branch of Pashtun tribe, are the direct descendents of a Persian Prince Shah Hussain of the house of Ghor (Afghanistan) and Bibi Mato (Daughter of Sheikh Baittan).
The clan is named after 'Marwat', who was the great grandson of Ibrahim Lodhi or Lodi (second son of Prince Shah Hussain/Bib Mato and younger brother of Ghiji or Ghilzai).
Thus beyond a partial destruction of his crops, no Marwat lost much as the stay of the Kabul troops was never long and the burning of his house only gave him an extra trouble of procuring a few ox-loads of reeds from the marsh and twigs from the jungle and building a hut of them.

LAKKI MARWAT, May 29: Tuberculosis is spreading very rapidly in the southern parts of NWFP, but no concrete steps have been taken by the authorities concerned to control it, despite the fact that TB control centres have been set up in upper and central districts of the province where it has broken out.
According to him, a meeting of the TB Control Programme authorities with Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah in the chair, it was decided to establish the TB control programme centres at various districts in the NWFP to cure the deadly and stop its further spreading.
It has been learnt that new cases of the TB is much difficult to be controlled by the old ways of treatment as the present TB cases contain much stronger resistance.
