Marx drew on Hegel's philosophy, the political economy of Adam Smith, Ricardian economics, and 19th century French socialism to develop a critique of society which he claimed was both scientific and revolutionary.
Although there are still many Marxist revolutionary movements and political parties around the world, since the collapse of the Soviet Union and its satellite states, relatively few countries have governments which describe themselves as Marxist.
To Marxists, on the other hand, these reforms represent responses to political pressures from working-class political parties and unions, themselves responding to perceived abuses of the capitalist system.

Although it has noticeable British and American sensibilities, the Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy is a multicultural affair with over 2,000 individual articles, including entries for Cheng Hao and Baal Shem Tov along with René Descartes and Immanuel Kant, and it discusses Mahayana Buddhism as ably as it discusses deconstruction theory.
The importance of this work is in my view, that it allows researchers and students in social sciences and other fields to have a central reference point when we put forward our arguments.
Individual philosophers and a general overview of their life works and projects, different idealogies and terms are all explained in full extent in this simple to use encyclopedia.

 Philosophy
The reason of this preference is to comprehend the difference between philosophy as it was understood in their period, and as it is most often understood today, at least in USA/Britain and in counties under their “control”.
The other reason is that every philosophy is ultimately a way of life and every way of life implies some philosophy, for after all, philosophy is nothing more or less than the effort to think as clearly, as rigorously, as coherently and as effectively as we can about the matters most important to us.

Science, philosophy of : Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy Online
Scientists propose theories and assess those theories in the light of observational and experimental evidence; what distinguishes science is the careful and systematic way in which its claims are based on evidence (see Scientific method).
We have known at least since David Hume that the answer cannot be that the correct theories are deducible from observation results.
Clearly an antirealist view of theories would be indicated if it could convincingly be argued that the accreditation of theories in science is not simply a function of evidential and other truth-related factors or even of epistemic pragmatic factors, but also of broader cultural and social matters.
