  Harlan-Lincoln House in Mount Pleasant, Iowa
Mary Eunice Harlan and Robert Todd Lincoln had three children: Mary (1869-1938), Abraham II or "Jack" (1873-1890) and Jessie (1875-1948).
James Harlan built the house in 1876, attaching it to a structure in the rear which dated to 1854 (this part was demolished in 1931).
Mary continued to visit in the 1890s, enlarging the porches and sometimes bringing her daughters and grandchildren.

Jonathan Harlan, b October 21, 1828, in Parke County, Indiana, d March 23, 1891, at Thornton, Limestone County, Texas and buried there -- was a son of Dr. Isaiah and Nancy (Henry) Harlan, who brought their family to Texas in the Fall of 1834.
Frank Burleson Harlan, b May 10, 1878, d 1932 at Thornton and buried in Thornton Cemetery -- was a farmer and a fireman at the Gin.
The last two children were "Dock" Harlan, b ca 1911, d of diphtheria about age 6 years; and Julia Harlan, b November 15, 1915, who resides in Conroe, Texas, who married first to Alton Castleberry, and second to Jake Bowman.

The Harlan Family in America Association was formed in 1987 in conjunction with a national family reunion held in Delaware, to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the immigration of George and Michael Harlan.
Gideon Gilpin was married to Sarah Gregg (#240), the great-granddaughter of George Harlan (#3).
Harlans attending Celebration 300 in 1987 were able to tour the house and fondly remember its charm as well as refreshments served by the residents' children.

 Historical Sites of the Harlan Family
James Harlan built the extant house onto the front of an earlier residence when he returned to Mount Pleasant after his service in Washington, D.C. The house is situated on the north edge of the Iowa Wesleyan College campus, a reminder of James Harlan's presence at the college and community.
Harlan served as president of Iowa Wesleyan, as professor, and as trustee.
Harlan's daughter, Mary, married Abraham Lincoln's son, Robert Todd Lincoln, in 1868 in Washington, D.C. During the 1870s and 1880s, Mary Harlan Lincoln brought their three children, Mary, Abraham Lincoln II "Jack", and Jessie, to spend summers with the Harlan grandparents.

On September 24, 1868, he married Mary Eunice Harlan (September 25, 1846 – March 31, 1937), the daughter of Senator James Harlan and Ann Eliza Peck of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Lincoln began legal proceedings against his mother Mary in 1875, which resulted in her committal to an insane asylum in Batavia, Illinois.
Robert Lincoln died at his Vermont home on July 26, 1926, and was later interred in Arlington National Cemetery[1] next to his wife Mary and their son Jack, who died of blood poisoning at the age of 16 in London, England.
