Mary Fallin is the Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma from 1995 to present, and is currently serving her third term as the state's first Republican, and female, Lt. Governor.
Fallin was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1990, where she served until she was elected Lt. Governor in 1994.
As Lieutenant Governor, Mary Fallin serves as the President of the Senate - a position she used in 2000 to bring the issue of Right to Work to a vote of the people for the first time in 25 years, and again in 2005 to push for a crucial vote on Workers' Compensation Reform.

Mary Fallin said she is opposed to Gov. Brad Henry's plan for a statewide lottery to help pay for public education and predicted many GOP lawmakers will fight it.
Fallin, Oklahoma's top statewide elected Republican, said support for the Democratic governor's lottery proposal from Democrats and Republicans may not be enough to send it to a statewide vote of the people.
Fallin said she is against a proposed five-cent increase in the state motor fuel tax to support transportation but supports a proposed $1 per pack increase in the cigarette excise tax as well as a ban on smoking in restaurants.

Watching the live Senate video feed today, a person might think Mary lacks personal hygiene or something the way senators ignored her while filing in and out of the chamber to vote to adjourn and reconvene tomorrow at 1:30pm.
I realize Mary is no spring chicken anymore, but she looked OK to me, sitting graciously in front of the chamber and quite dapper in a fashionable conservative business suit.
Mary Fallin took the Senate chair and the Democratic majority boycotted the chamber after Sen. Scott Pruitt removed his workers’ comp bill from consideration.

Mary Fallin and Senate Republican leaders said Thursday they were right when they predicted four weeks ago that Gov. Brad Henry would attempt to water down workers’ compensation reform if the issue went to a conference committee instead of receiving an up-or-down vote in the Senate.
Now it is too late in the legislative session for a good workers’ compensation reform bill to be produced – meaning the issue will have to be resolved in a special session of the Legislature this summer.
There has been a lot of talk and posturing, but the trial lawyers are using the same game plan they used for lawsuit reform last year – delay and deliver a watered-down proposal at the last minute in a conference committee.
