Biographical Sketch: Mary Grace Canfield was a native of Vermont and the wife of the Rev. Harry Lee Canfield (1860-1942), a Universalist minister working in North Carolina.
The Canfield Collection consists of 246 fl and white prints, most of which are mounted on cardboard.
Canfield is filed in the North Carolina Collection vault under the call number VC917 C22.

The Mary Grace Canfield Papers are the notes, published articles, and correspondence generated during research for her book Lafayette in Vermont, describing the Marquis de Lafayette's 1825 visit to Vermont.
The Thomas H. Canfield Papers, 1842-1932, are made up of Canfield personal and business papers as well as some correspondence and documents concerning the Episcopal Church in Vermont.
The majority of the collection is papers representing Canfield's many business interests ranging from his early activity in the mercantile field to his involvement in the railroad industry, particularly the Washington and Rutland Railroad and the Northern Pacific Railroad Company, and finally to his farming and agricultural business in Lake Park, Minnesota.

Canfield landed as a regular on the series The Hathaways, and made a number of appearances on Bewitched, and a notable appearance on The Andy Griffith Show, as "Gomer’s" girlfriend, "Mary Grace Gossage." "On Bewitched, I replaced Alice Pierce (who had died) in the part of nosy neighbor ‘Harriet Cravitz.’"
Bischof moved to the mainland, building a studio on to their old cape farm house, and the two have settled into the peaceful life Canfield always dreamed of.

Mary Grace Canfield (born September 3, 1926, in Rochester, New York) is an American actress who often played the role of a romance-hungry wallflower.
On the series Green Acres, she played the all-thumbs carpenter Ralph Monroe, who greeted her fellow Hootervillians with her signature, "Howdie Doodie!" During the 1960s and 1970s, Ms Canfield and actress Lucille Wall shared the role of nurse Lucille March (Audrey's sister) on "General Hospital".
Canfield played Abner Kravitz' sister Harriet on three Bewitched episodes following the death of Alice Pearce from Ovarian Cancer.
