Mashgiach is a (The ancient Canaanitic language of the Hebrews that has been revived as the official language of Israel) Hebrew word which generally refers to a person who supervises the (additional info and facts about kashrut) kashrut of a (Food that fulfills the requirements of Jewish dietary law) kosher establishment.
It can also refer to a person who supervises the students of a (An academy for the advanced study of Jewish texts (primarily the Talmud)) yeshiva (comparable to a guidance counselor).

When the Soloveitchik's moved to New York in 1928 with Rav Moshe assuming the position of Rosh Yeshiva in Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchonon, young Reb Aharon continued learning under the tutelage of his father who gave him semicha.
He was taught English by Reb Avigdor Miller, who later would serve as the Mashgiach at Yeshivas Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin.
