The environment in Manicaland province was similar to experiences of Mashonaland West in that the settlers have been allocated a certain portion on the farm under mainly the A2 scheme and are not necessarily interfering with the activities on the farm.
Mashonaland West province features prominently in terms of farmer’s provision of subsidised maize meal to farm workers with nearly 42 percent of farms accessed having this priviledge.
In Mashonaland West province, the farm workers who had lost employment and had opted to remain on the farms are engaged in three main activities in order to sustain themselves.

THE ruling Zanu PF is deeply divided over the arrest and detention of its MP and Mashonaland West chairman Philip Chiyangwa on allegations of trying to obstruct the course of justice.
Mashonaland West senior politicians are said to be livid over Chiyangwa's incarceration which will see him stay in custody for 18 days.
Zanu PF spokesman Nathan Shamuyarira and politicians from Mashonaland West such as Ignatius Chombo, Sabina Mugabe, Edna Madzongwe, Leo Mugabe, Webster Shamu, and Bright Matonga were said to be infuriated by Chiyangwa's continued detention.

In Mashonaland East the exit poll results, though poor indicators in individual seats - because the larger the Zanu-PF majority, the less willing were MDC voters to reveal themselves - nonetheless provided an overall tally which corresponded fairly well with the actual result.
In Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central, however, our exit poll results were wide of the mark, with far greater numbers of voters identifying themselves as MDC supporters to our interviewers than appeared in the actual results.
These were Mhondoro, with a 56 per cent Yes vote, in Mashonaland West, Bikita West (53 per cent) in Masvingo, Bulilimanangwa North (65 per cent) and South (51 per cent) in Matabeleland South and Bubi Umguza (55 per cent), Lupane (61 per cent), Nkayi (53 per cent) and Tsholotsholo (59 per cent) in Matabeleland North.

Mashonaland Central - Charles Anderson (early 40's), a farm manager, was shot and killed at noon today by unknown assailants.
One of the children is said to have received a minor injury perpetrated by one of the four intruders.
The farm, Dunmaglas of Norfolk Estate, is 378 hectares in extent and is in the Glendale/ Mazowe farming area of Mashonaland Central.

Moreover, the farm invasions had been notably heavier and more violent in Mashonaland so the effect of those invasions was probably felt somewhat more heavily in our data than was the case nationwide.
This is backed up - though from an admittedly partisan direction - by statistics kept by the MDC which suggest that 65 per cent (22 of 34) of the Mashonaland constituencies had experienced very high levels of intimidation compared to 37 per cent elsewhere in the country.

In the 107 constituencies, the incumbent President got 1,487,836 votes or 55.7 percent, against 1,133,164 or 42.4 percent for his main rival, Morgan Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).

Last month strong rains hit Muzarabani in Mashonaland Central and Musambakaruma and Negande in Mashonaland West causing serious damage to property.
Two people died and more than 6,000 were affected in Muzarabani and 50 families had to be airlifted from the flood plains of Musambakaruma.

Armed police first visited Firk’s Fridawill farm, about 31 km north of Chinhoyi, and were back again yesterday to tell him he should surrender the property to Michael Bimha, who is believed to be a cousin to Grace.
Firk, among about 500 white farmers remaining in Zimbabwe, had in the last five years survived farm invasions by villagers from nearby communal lands who spared his farm because they depended on it for seasonal employment and food during years of drought.
The white farmer had also reportedly helped bankroll Zanu PF functions in Mashonaland West offering beasts to be slaughtered to feed guests during party functions, according to witnesses.
