Masindi Centre for the Handicapped - an outstanding residential school which is undertaking tremendous work, but which is in desperate need of financial support to maintain and develop its services.
The Masindi district is in a largely rural area in Mid Western Uganda, 130 miles from Kampala.

 AEGiS-NV: Masindi secures enough condoms
MASINDI district has secured enough condoms to avert the looming crisis caused by a countrywide shortage of acceptable condoms.
The district health educator, William Kajura, said although the GovernmentÆs Engabu brand had been frozen and the procedure for approving new imports lengthened, Masindi would not be affected by the measures.
He was speaking at the closure of a two-day workshop for 45 condom distributors at Softie Guest House in Masindi on Tuesday.

The deadly Ebola hemorrhagic fever has spread to Masindi district in western Uganda, neighboring Gulu district in the north, Uganda Health Ministry confirmed Monday.
"Masindi district reported four suspected cases who have died in one household, with one case was confirmed to be positive for Ebola," said a press release signed by Director General of Health Services Francis Omaswa.
In the past two days, 11 new cases have been reported in the country with five deaths, bringing the total number of cases to 329 and the death toll to 110, according to the release.

The centre of the current outbreak is the Gulu District (population of 399,000) in northern Uganda, approximately 300 km due north of Kampala, the national capital.
Masindi District (population 357,700) borders Gulu to the southwest and is 217 km northwest of Kampala.
With respect to the current outbreak in Uganda, unless travellers are in the Gulu, Mbarara or Masindi Districts, and are caring for an ill individual infected with the Ebola virus, Health Canada advises that the risk of acquiring Ebola haemorrhagic fever is very low.

The World Bank has given Masindi sh150m to fund activities aimed at reducing HIV/AIDS prevalence in the district under the Uganda AIDS Control Project.
