	The Masterplan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The Masterplan is a compilation album by English rock band Oasis, comprising B-sides which never made it onto an album.
		The Masterplan only reached #2 in the UK where it went platinum, and #51 in the United States.
		However, in promotional interviews for The Masterplan, Noel revealed that it was actually recorded at the soundcheck for a gig at a Sony Music seminar at Gleneagles, Scotland, in February 1994.

		Noel disliked the b-side to 'D'You Know What I Mean?' The Thin Lizzy influenced 'Headshrinker' was the b-side of 'Some Might Say' in 1995 and it was written about three years earlier, during the band's punkier phase.
		The most impressive songs on this album are 'The Swamp Song', 'Headshrinker' and 'The Masterplan'.
		What I love about this album was that Oasis had put a lot of thought into their b-sides.

		Oasis needed to keep the public interested while they decided what to do, while Noel was forced to write new material, having used up his teenage canon on the first three albums.
		Layers of well balanced, fantastic lyrics and a break down outro which returns to the sinister calm of the intro make this a very fine song, a fitting close to an interesting album and a question mark of a B-Side.
		The quality of this album has peaks and troughs, from the majesty of the Masterplan to the eccentrically irritating Swamp Song, from the beautifully careful Half The World Away, to the trying too hard Going Nowhere.

		Long-time concert favorites such as the stomp rock of "Acquiesce," featuring the usual snarling Liam Gallagher lead on the verse and Noel Gallagher's mellower voice on the chorus, and the majestic "The Masterplan" with full orchestra that recalls Elton John's "Madman Across The Water" are high points on the "new" album.

		I got it for 6 bucks in a store and thought I had made a great purchase or that they had made a mistake on the prize until I played it.....
