Mater Dei Institute of Education was founded in 1966 and in 1999 became a College of Dublin City University.
The Institute is distinctive in its adoption of the concurrent model of teacher education for second-level schools, in its new BA in Irish Studies and Religious Studies, in its postgraduate Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy programmes, and in its other postgraduate degrees to PhD level.
The Institute welcomes the introduction by the Department of Education and Science of new Religious Education syllabus in second-level schools and it commits itself to supporting teachers and students in the full implementation of this new and innovative programme of study.

 Dublin City University
Created as the National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin in 1975, it enrolled its first students in 1980 and was elevated to university status in 1989 by statute.
In 1979 the institution was located on a 85 acre site 3 miles from the city centre, just north of Albert Park; the Albert College Building is the only significant remaining building from before this period.
The early focus of the institution was, in particular, on science and technology although it has also had a large business school.

Society for the Study of Nineteenth-Century Ireland, Institute of Ulster Scots Studies is pleased to present Across the Water: Ireland and Scotland in the Nineteenth Century at the University of Ulster, Magee on June 16 and 17, 2006.
The Research Institute of Irish and Scottish Studies (RIISS) recently celebrated its fifth anniversary and to mark this occasion is offering at least five scholarships and bursaries for suitably qualified candidates to pursue interdisciplinary research and graduate training on the history, literatures, languages and cultures of the two countries.
The Institute offers a taught MLitt programme that addresses the specific research interests of individual students while educating them about resources outside their proposed area of interest, thus helping them to conceptualise their scholarship and set it within a wider, historical, literary, linguistic or ethnological framework.

Any information which helps to tackle bullying must be welcomed such as that obtained through the Mater Dei survey on issues affecting gay, lesbian and bisexual students, Fine Gael Education Spokesperson, Olwyn Enright TD said today (Tuesday).
Such a national programme should be mandatory in all schools, and should focus on key issues, including sexuality, which can be the focus of much of the bullying within the education sector.
If we are to tackle bullying at school then the type of information that is being collated by Mater Dei is required.
