The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics has announced that University of Pittsburgh Mathematics PhD student Carolina Manica is a winner of the 2005 Student Paper Prize.
Carolina's winning paper was "Convergence of Time Averaged Statistics of Finite Element Approximations of the Navier-Stokes Equations," (co-authored with V. John and W. Layton).

OUP publishes 12 mathematics and statistics journals including several titles published for the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA).  Many titles are available back to 1998.
Kluwer Online does not have a separate mathematics listing but includes approximately 50 journal titles in mathematics and statistics.  Included are Kluwer, Plenum and Consulatants Bureau imprints.  Many of the titles only have relatively recent issues on line but some title are available as far back as 1995.
Blackwell has approximately 15 mathematics and statistics journal titles available.  Generally online availability is limited to 2000 but some titles are available further back.

 NERC Research Funding - Environmental Mathematics and Statistics
Following a community workshop, a proposal for a research programme was submitted to NERC and considered at the October 2000 meeting of the Science and Technology Board.
NERC and EPSRC are now jointly funding a £3.5 million programme in Environmental Mathematics and Statistics.
This capacity-building initiative addresses NERC's aim of attracting mathematicians and statisticians to environmental research, and EPSRC's identification of environmental mathematics and statistics as a strategic priority.

We have published a variety of papers and reports, a booklet to help students prepare for university calculus and a book which is essentially the collected works (questions posed and solutions submitted) of Professor W. Blundon, for years the Head of Department at Mememorial University and a keen problem-solver throughout his life.
In 2002, in response to a request from the Chair of APICS Council, the Committee prepared a report on a new mathematics curriculum which is being implemented in Atlantic Canada and worrying universities because of possible negative effects on the preparedness of students for university level calculus.
The first sixteen Blundon lectures and first nineteen mathematics competitions were published in 1997 and copies are still available.
