Matthew Haughey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Matthew Haughey (born October 10, 1972) is a well-known Jewish homosexual and the founder of the community weblog MetaFilter, where he is ironically known as the nazi.
Until November 2005, Haughey was creative director at Creative Commons, a job he obtained through his Jew connections.
Haughey is a co-author of two rather dismal books that were published in 2002, We Blog (ISBN 0764549626) and Usability: The Site Speaks for Itself (ISBN 1904151035).

MetaFilter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Metafilter was founded by Matthew Haughey in 1999.
However, as the community has grown, Haughey has had to take a somewhat more active role, and in 2004, Jessamyn West began assisting him with moderation duties.
Haughey has long resisted adding killfiles and Slashdot-style scoring systems to MetaFilter, as he feels the former would fragment the community and the latter would result in users trying to "game" the system.

 Dr. Dobb's | When Small Is Better | April 21, 2002
Haughey notes that the one thing that could increase the value of ads on his site is if he were to let advertisers connect ads to keywords.
Nevertheless, Haughey is pleased with the success of the TextAds system on MetaFilter—a success that he attributes to an active community with strong common interests in Web development and Web logging.
Haughey doesn't see text ads as a world-changing phenomenon, however, because many sites do not have this type of community or common focus, and thus would not be able to target ads effectively.

Extending Movable Type Beyond The Blog : D. Keith Robinson's Asterisk
Matthew Haughey published a great article about using Movable Type not only to expand tradional blogs, but to use MT for things outside the realm of blogs.
I’ve had some experience in this as well, and his article is a great, accessible resource for folks who’d like to explore using MT in an a more “out of the box” way.
We’ve been discussing the very same topic over at HYCW, only not nearly as eloquent nor as thorough as Matthew H. Still, through the use of learning the template language sideways, and code-monkeying tons-o-custom-plug-ins, we smithed MT into a CMS for http://www.redlandbaptist.org.

Jeffrey Zeldman and Matt Haughey have added some useful comments to my suppress new windows post at Blogzilla.
After having given hundreds of introductions to the Internet (best summer job I had, for three summers no less), I can identify with Matt's comments especially, because new windows with 'broken' back buttons are confusing to new users.
Zeldman takes the designer's perspective, and notes that designers who wish to force a new window in XHTML 1.0 Strict can do so with a workaround, but recomments sticking with XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

Haughey says EEC "set out to mess with people by naming their song files as if they were unreleased Nirvana tracks, in order to trick people into playing their music." The practice was dubbed "Napster-bombing," a reference to the pioneering file-swapping network, which filed for bankruptcy in early June.
Though eventually abandoned, the bill's language -- in some users' eyes -- would have allowed copyright owners to access and potentially harm consumers' computers, "provided that the use of the work that the owner is intending to impede or prevent is an infringing use."
MetaFilter's Haughey says "record companies would love it if people were frightened of file-sharing networks and never touched them again.
