Matunga is the name of a railway station on the Mumbai suburban railway on the Western Railway railway line.
Matunga is a lively residential neighbourhood to the north of Dadar, south of Sion.The area is dominated by South Indians (especially Tamil Brahmins).The numbers of Gujaratis has also been on the rise in recent years.
Matunga is serviced by the Central(Main) Line of the railway by the Matunga Railway Station.The western line station of Matunga Road and the Harbour Line station of Kings Circle are also located here.

According to police sources, Shah and Babubhai were locking their `Cheda Wine Shop' at Chandavarkar Road in Matunga around midnight when two customers asked for beer.
