  Bangladeshis in retrospect of the great soul Maulana Bhasani
"Maulana Bhashani had struggled till the last day of his life against all kinds of exploitation, repression and deprivation." Prime Minister Khaleda Zia said Maulana Bhashani had played a leading role in almost all the movements in the sub-continent - from anti-British movement to the war of liberation in 1971.
Sheikh Hasina said Maulana Bhashani was an uncompromising leader for building a democratic and secular society free of exploitation and deprivation and fought for establishing the rights of the toiling masses.
Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani Parishad's programme on the day includes placing wreaths at the mazar of Maulana Bhasani at Santosh at 10 am, photo exhibition and mass rally at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka at 10 am and 3 pm respectively.

Maulana Bhasani, A.K. Fazlul Huq and H.S. Suhrawardy formed a united front against the ruling Muslim league in 1954.
The Maulana initiated the mass upsurge in December 1968 against the Ayub regime, as result Ayub handed over power to General Yahia in March 1969.

On March 20, Maulana Bhashani held a press conference in Chittagong, where he asked Yahya Khan to form an interim government with Sheikh Mujib as chief, and said that that interim government should decide what relationship independent Bangladesh would have with Pakistan.
Nonetheless, what Maulana Bhashani imagined as possible in 1957 became reality on March 1, 1971, when Yahya Khan cancelled the National Assembly session scheduled for March 3 and realistic possibilities for a federated Pakistan died.
