Tuku Morgan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
He was an MP from 1996 to 1999, first as a member of the New Zealand First party, then as an independent, and finally as a member of Mauri Pacific.
Many people dismissed the five Mauri Pacific MPs as opportunists, and said that the presence of people such as Morgan in the party did not speak highly of its moral integrity.
In the 1999 elections, Morgan was ranked second on Mauri Pacific's party list, and contested the Te Tai Hauauru seat again, but was not returned to Parliament.

The preservation of the mauri was associated with the presence of one's atua (or god) which means that the object, in this case the mountain, was set aside for restricted use by that particular god.
The Maori sense of belonging to a particular place is achieved through the practice of burying the pito and the whenua (placenta) of a baby in a sacred area which is aligned in a triangular configuration to the familial, sub-tribal, and tribal mountains of that child.
However, the mauri will always be handed back to the host people at the conclusion of the speeches, and this is symbolised by their speaking last.
