Maurice Williams - Free Music Downloads, Videos, CDs, MP3s, Bio, Merchandise and Links
Maurice Williams is one of the most extraordinarily durable figures in the history of classic R&B and rock & roll, despite the fact that, as a performer, he only ever racked up one major national hit on the pop charts.
Williams had sung in church, but his interest lay more in popular music, and in 1953, he and his friends were ready to form a group that they called the Royal Charms.
Williams saw minimal chart action from any of this, but remained active -- Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs were still a major draw in the South, especially in their native state, and in 1965 cut a live album at Myrtle Beach, SC.

Williams adapted himself sartorially to the revolution as readily as Eagleton did, borrowing as his symbols the duffle coat, the leather jacket, and the Mosley-ite fl sweater in which he was photographed in 1982.
Williams wrote at two levels—colloquially and self-confidently in confirming for audiences of his own persuasion the truths that they shared with him; opaquely and mistily in works that attempted to establish the truth and coherence of these persuasions.
Williams is best understood as the politicizer of Leavis, as the man who, while he criticized Leavis, brought him out of the closet and converted “critical discrimination” into a set of Marxist slogans.

The Jaguars expected Michigan offensive tackle Maurice Williams to be gone by the time the Jaguars were to select in the second round.
Had Williams not been available, it would've been difficult for the Jaguars to have found a player capable of becoming a starter as a rookie, and that would've reflected poorly on the selection of Stroud.
