 Mavors of Tremere
Mavors grew within an unhappy atmosphere with a severe and dark teacher who disliked him.
He felt physical and mental oppressions; his training was hard and distressing and he often remembered his parent's death but he couldn't show his Pater such a pain by crying; now, he can't stand people crying and considers them to be weak.
Mavors understood this choice; he went however to Luimneach where he had contacts with the O'Connors who managed his lands.

 The God Mars
Mars is one of the oldest of the Roman gods, and is perhaps the most Roman in that his worship was not as affected by foreign practices.
The origin of the name is uncertain, with the most ancient forms of the name being "Maurs", "Mavors", and "Marmar", which were later contracted to "Mars".
Mars was initially a god of springtime and fertility before he was a god of war.

 Martius with Senex Caecilius
Mars was an ancient Italian deity who was identified by the Romans with the Greek Ares and worshipped as the god of war.
(The name of the god in the Sabine and Oscan tongues was Mamers, and Mars itself is a contraction of Mavers or Mavors.) Whatever his origins, Mars was much more than a god of war.
He was regarded as the protector of land and crops and the father of Romulus, the founder of the nation.

Split Heliangelus clarisse from H. amethysticollis
In the meantime, Phelps and Phelps (1953) had described violiceps as a race of clarisse, from the Serranía de Perijá on the Colombian-Venezuelan frontier but without mentioning spencei although its gorget is more violaceous than that of clarisse, perhaps approaching the latter (?).
The next useful information was published by Fjeldså and Krabbe (1990), who described the gorget of spencei as "violet, often with a distinct coppery sheen, not strongly glistening" (the "different texture" of Zimmer?) and noted similarities in the throat color of females to that of mavors, males of which have an orange to orange-green gorget.
They also noted the "peculiar silvery-green" frontlet of spencei, apparently unlike those of other members of the group including clarisse and violiceps.
