  Max Amann - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Max Amann (November 24, 1891 - March 30, 1957) was a Nazi official with the honorary rank of SS-Obergruppenführer, politician and journalist.
Amann was born in Munich on November 24, 1891; during World War I he was Adolf Hitler's Sergeant; he became chairman of the German Nazi party in 1922 and president of the Reichspressekammer (Reich Media Chamber) in 1933.
Arrested by Allied troops after the war, Amann was found guilty of being a Hauptschuldiger (Prominent Guilty Party) and sentenced to ten years in a labour camp on September 8, 1948, but was released in 1953.

AMANN, MAX (1891-1957) Hitler's company sergeant and one of his closest comrades during and after the First World War.
After November 1933, Amann served as President of the Reich Press Chamber and was largely responsible for developing the Party's giant newspaper trust by plundering non-Nazi newspaper chains, gradually eliminating all independent publishing.
Amann was sentenced to two and one-half years in prison by a Munich court on September 8, 1948, and two months later the Central-de-Nazification Court imposed ten years' labor camp on him as a "Major Offender." His property and holdings were expropriated in 1949 and he is said to have died in poverty in Munich.

In late June and early July 1928, Hitler dictated a sequel to "Mein Kampf." It was taken down by Max Amann, the director of the Nazi party's publishing company.
Hitler wanted to explain his foreign policy on the South Tyrol and the United States, but "Hitler's Second Book," as it came to be known, was never published during his life.
One theory is that the second volume of "Mein Kampf," published in 1927, was selling badly, and that Amann persuaded Hitler that bringing out a new book would further cut into sales.

The book (which means "My Struggle" or "My Fight") is a book of Hitler's extreme right-wing political views dictated by Hitler and transcribed by Rudolf Hess while they were both serving a prison sentence at Landsberg prison for treason.
The book was originally called "Four Years of Struggle against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice," but Hitler's publisher, Max Amann, managed to persuade Hitler to shorten the title to "Mein Kampf."
Sales at first were dead, but as Hitler slowly came to prominence, bursting onto the national and international political scene, sales rocketed.

After a rest period the 36th went back for the last time and broke deep into Austria.
In it's last action the 36th took some of the most notorious and noteworthy of the war prisoners -Hermann Goering, Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt, Airmarshal Sperlle, Max Amann (publisher of Mein Kampf), and Leni Reifenstahl who may have been Hitler's lady love.
In Munich, men of the 36th commandeered the press which printed Mein Kampf and put it to work printing war record of the Texan soldiers.
