  Massimiliano Papis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Massimiliano Papis, Max Papis, (born October 3, 1969) is a former Formula One driver from Italy.
Papis earned the nickname "Mad Max" at the 1996 24 Hours of Daytona during his last stint at the end of the race.
Although his second-place Ferrari 333SP had been battered due to collisions, some of its bodywork held together by tape, Papis unlapped himself by passing the race leader (the Doyle Racing Oldsmobile driven by Wayne Taylor) and proceeded to bang out some of the fastest laps of the entire race.

Team Cadillac took the fight to the streets in round two of the Speed GT World Challenge.  In their first-ever race on a street-course the twin CTS-Vs of Andy Pilgrim and Max Papis went wheel to wheel with the competition around a 1.8-mile, 14-turn circuit in downtown St. Petersburg.
Consistency and a good race pace had to take a back seat to caution as the race began.  No sooner had the green flag fallen than a collision in turn one had the field completing lap one under caution.  It was the first of five full-course cautions that punctuated this battle between concrete walls.
Papis held fourth position until the last two laps, when officials imposed a stop-and-go penalty for getting out of line before the final restart on lap 25.
