Introduction to Arithmetic: Numbers and History of Numbers
The long usage of Roman numerals could be due to a number of factors, including the widespread influence of the Roman Empire, the force of tradition, and the fact that the system had many advantages over other European systems of the time.
The numerical notation for small numbers was quite simple; one was represented by a short, straight, vertical stroke, or wedge, two to nine by two to nine short strokes, 10 by an angle, and 100 by a short vertical wedge followed by a short horizontal wedge (see Diagram 4).
The cumbersome Roman numerals were inadequate for writing out the large and complicated numbers used in astronomy and, increasingly, in other branches of science, and the invention in the early 17th century of logarithms finally ended their use.

 Introduction to the Mayan Calendar
The calendar system known  as  the  Julian calendar  was established by Julius Caesar in 46 B.C., which  was the  year  709 of the Roman Empire.
In the new  Gregorian calendar a year which is divisible by 4 is a leap-year unless it is divisible by 100 but not by 400.
The term Sacred Calendar, however, is often  used to  denote  the multiple interrelated systems,  ie.,  the  entire framework  of cycles.

World Mysteries - Mystic Places: Teotihuacan
This video explores how the Aztec and Mayan empires rose to startling heights and then mysteriously collapsed.
Military empires, such as the Toltecs in the twelfth century AD (and later the Aztecs, starting in fourteenth century AD), which grew up from these warring factions were the cultures met by the Spanish in 1519 and largely eradicated by 1521.
The Mayans and Aztecs developed complex and intelligent societies, and much of their culture is still mysterious to us, but this video does a good job of explaining the basic history of who these people were and how they lived.

RECOLLECTIONS OF A FALLEN SKY - VELIKOVSKY AND CULTURAL AMNESIA : CHAPTER :
This is a very long existence for an empire with hegemony, both political and cultural, over the peoples around it; and the myth of the original gathering at Tula during the long night was undoubtedly one of the sources on which its claim to hegemony was based.
It has been speculated that their rise to brilliance followed the fall of the Teotihuacano-Tulan empire in the fifth century, and their classical period is known to be from the fifth century to the ninth.
Unfortunately the symbolic language of the religion which unified the Tulan empire is not yet fully intelligible to us; we keep having to work back through later strata to get any glimpse of it at all.
