  Maybach Exelero - 218 mph top speed one-off supercar - Honda-Acura.net
The Exelero is based on a Maybach 62, but the twin-turbo V12 engine has been highly tuned and it is now capable of 700 horsepower and 755 pound-feet of torque.
The project, based on the Maybach 57 limousine, required a certain amount of re-engineering; the A-pillar and doors had to be shifted rearwards, and the steering column, pedals and gearshift all re-located.
Maybach says the car, built by Stola in Turin, is "a one-off vehicle created to showcase the new ultra-high performance Excelero tyre range from leading tyre manufacturer Fulda"; it's not the first time the two companies have teamed up, as back in 1938 Fulda demonstrated its tyres on a Maybach SW 38 limousine.

Maybach Exelero : News & Reports : Motoring : Web Wombat
The Exelero, which has been styled to pay homage to the streamlined sports cars from the 1930s, is not short on power: during early testing at a high-speed test track in Nardo in Italy it clocked a top speed of just over 351km/h (218mph).
Maybach says that the stunningly heavy 2660kg prototype coupe was built for Fulda Reifenwerke to use as a "reference vehicle for a newly developed generation of wide tyres".
Maybach hasn't released figures on 0-100km/h specs, and they probably wouldn't be super-stunning if the car was indeed tuned for maximum top speed, with tall gear ratios to match.

 Carpages.ca - 2005 Maybach Exelero Concept
The Exelero is the modern-day equivalent to these demons of speed, carrying the same rich history, which can be traced back to Maybach's track star, the one-of-a-kind SW 38.
Maybach 57 (the smaller of the two), the one-off showpiece has the same base footprint, including a width of 2,140 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,390 mm.
While Maybach is willing to customize the 57 and 62 limousines to customer's tastes, with gold-plated interior trim and plasma televisions, it is highly unlikely that they would be willing to create a conversion like the Exelero.

Transforming a limousine, the basis for the Exelero is the Maybach 57, into a coupe is extremely demanding.
Jurgen Weissinger and his team were astonished to find that, although the dimensions of the former SW 38 differed in the length (the Maybach 57 has 11 inches longer wheelbase), in terms of breadth and height they were very similar.
After several optimization of the Maybach type 12 engine, the cubic capacity was increased from 5.6 to 5.9 liters and the turbo charge optimized.

Maybach was therefore revived as a brand in the early 2000s, with the production of the new model in two sizes; — the Maybach 57 and the Maybach 62, (the numbers are equal to the lengths of the automobiles in decimeters); the longer 62 allows rear occupants to recline fully in their seats.

Styled by a team of students at the Pforzheim School of Design in Germany, the new car’s exterior recalls the exotic designs of early Maybach models, in particular the low slung SW38, which was commissioned by Fulda in 1939 for high-speed tire testing on German autobahns before it was destroyed during WWII.
To ensure the Exelero delivers the sort of neck-wrenching acceleration to match its sinister appearance, the big coupe is powered by a reworked version of the 57S’ AMG-developed twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine.
Although the Exelero has been painstakingly developed and meets all existing road worthiness regulations for Europe, Maybach says there are no plans to place it into production.
