Maybole High Street is especially striking, running from the imposing Town Hall built in 1887 to the equally impressive and much more unexpected Maybole Castle dominating a street corner in the town.
Maybole Castle is believed to be Maybole's oldest inhabited house, dating back to around 1560.
In Maybole the main effect was to confirm a growing trend that saw most of the Carrick lairds and landowners move their town houses to the larger stage of Ayr, leaving Maybole to take on a more industrial feel.

Midway through the week, the Pettits were invited to Maybole Castle to what was billed as a chance to show the Web site to some council members.
Maybole had honored someone almost every year since 1976, but the award had been discontinued last year.
He also had further success in researching his family tree, discovering several relatives buried in the New Maybole Cemetery, which opened in 1852 and is still in use.

No less serious than the violence in Coventry, in proportion to the size of the town, was the action taken by the weavers in Maybole against the enterprise recently commenced by James Underwood (age 50).

 Maybole Combination Poorhouse
The parishes of Maybole, Kirkmichael and Kirkoswald had agreed to build a poorhouse in 1848, but then used a temporary building until its demolition for railway purposes in 1855.
For several years thereafter they sent paupers to the Rhins of Galloway poorhouse at Stranraer, but under pressure from the Board of Supervision, agreed to construct their own.
The Maybole Combination poorhouse was erected in 1863 on Ladyland Road in Maybole.

In 1883 a building was built on land gifted to the church and this was dedicated on 19 December 1883 by the same William Scott Wilson who had opened the mission and had been Bishop of the Diocese since 1859.

Our site has changed considerably, not because of a desire to upgrade for the sake of it, or even change things for the hell of it, the answer is quite simple, I lost the original site one night when I had downloaded everything to make some alterations.
One of the biggest changes is that Dalmellington staff have come under the auspices of the Team leader at Maybole effectively doubling his staff from 5 to 10.
Just a reminder to all those out there, that we are the longest running, fully independant Ambulance related web site [I think] in this country run by full time Ambulance staff, with the first pages being posted 1997.
