I have not seen a picture of the torque curve but Mazda states that the “CX-7 is tuned to deliver 258 lb-ft of torque at a low 2,500 rpm, and at least 99-percent of the maximum torque available all the way to the 5,000 rpm horsepower peak.”
Mazda is targeting a different driver with the CX-7 than Toyota is with the RAV4.

As predicted by AutoReport based on trademark applications first filed late last year, the company also confirmed that the vehicle will be named Mazda CX-7, fitting into the company's global naming strategy.
Irvine, CA … Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) announced Wednesday that the MX-Crossport concept car, which debuted earlier this year at the 2005 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI, will formally move from concept to production vehicle.

Mazda this morning announced its all-new CX-7, a crossover sports-utility-vehicle (SUV) that will be on display at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show in January (as anticipated).
Arriving in the North American market in the spring of 2006, the five-seat CX-7 embodies “blend of sports car verve and SUV practicality,” according to the company.
