	Mazikeen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		A fearsome warrior and a respected leader, Mazikeen is a prominent character in the Lucifer comics.
		In Lucifer, Mazikeen's face was turned fully human when she was resuscitated by the Basanos following the destruction of the Lux in a fire.
		This angers Mazikeen greatly, however, as she sees this move as Lucifer running away from and skirking all of his responsibilities.

		I don't see that there's necessarily any implication that he wants Mazikeen to be taught anything, and he may even be assigning her to work with Elaine as a further way to keep a check on Elaine (given Mazikeen's loyalty to him)
		So I guess we could also assume that if he wants Mazikeen to change (like becoming more hesitant to go for the "chop off their head" option first), it's because he sees a strategic need for it.
		The spider biology stuff was unusual (is Thole's honeypie an example of sexual dimorphism or was he on the pull after something else entirely and Martin's presence has confused the signals he was trying to send?) and any story that takes a dig at new age spiritual babble has to be good.

		Elaine travels in spirit form and observes Mazikeen’s tribunal, arrives in a dream forest, and eventually escapes to Hell where she meets friend and foe alike.
		Lucifer has defeated the angels, and various forces, including his trusted Mazikeen, are gathering to observe and probably challenge Lucifer, who has created a whole new world.

		It took me a couple of pages to remember that last issue ended with Mazikeen confronting her mother, Lilith (Adam's original bride before Eve came along).
		Lilith's goals seem to have been convenient for the title character some aeons ago, and in some ways she fomented the seeds of rebellion which led the Morningstar to turn against his father's realm.
		Reading this issue makes her popping up in his creation make a great deal of sense, and this extra sized issue (forty pages of story content, woo hoo) delves deep into the title character's development and further explains Mazikeen's devotion to him.

		I'll confirm your suspiscion and say that Mazikeen does NOT have some sort of masochistic hangup on Lucifer.
		Dunno if you've read his own comic, but one, Lucifer isn't a sadist - he doesn't empathize well, to be certain, and if somebody did something stupid to hurt themselves, then he'll laugh at them, but he's laughing at the irony and their stupidity, not the pain per se.
		Finally, the only time Lucifer DOES screw Mazikeen over (and it's not like he has a second thought) it's entirely out of his own interests, one, and two, Mazikeen ditches him immediately thereafter - she's NOT a glutton for punishment.
