ESRI Map Book Gallery Volume 17: Transportation - McCarran International Airport
The seventh busiest airport in the country and the eleventh busiest worldwide, McCarran uses GIS to track relevant data as it pertains to the terminal layout including leased space, amenities, gate organization, and other facility data.
The airport layout in GIS is a valuable tool to assist airport staff with current and proposed projects, data and graphic needs, and other requests that affect day-to-day operations of the airport.
The ability to map this data with GIS over time enables airport managers to analyze the effects of air traffic and resulting noise impacts, and it can be used to assist with developing air traffic patterns and policies that are compatible with noise-sensitive land development.
