McGhee Tyson Airport (IATA: TYS, ICAO: KTYS) is an airport located in Alcoa, Tennessee, approximately 12 miles (19 km) south of downtown Knoxville.
The airport is named for Navy pilot McGhee Tyson, lost on patrol in World War I.
Adjacent to the Mcghee Tyson Air National Guard Base is the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment Army Aviation Support Facility which operates several OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopters.
