McGill University - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
McGill's main campus is set upon 32 hectares (80 acres) at the foot of Mount Royal in Montreal's downtown district.
McGill was founded in 1821 from a bequest by James McGill, a prominent Montreal merchant, who left an endowment in addition to the property on which the university now stands.
McGill was largely out of reach to the 10,000 francophone graduates of the newly-created CEGEP system who had nowhere else to go, locally, to continue their studies.

The Stadium was originally constructed with a 7,676-seat grandstand.  A large majority of the estimated $100,000 construction costs came from Captain Percival Molson, a McGill football, hockey and track star who bequeathed $75,000 to help defray the costs of a new stadium.
Molson Stadium had been the home of the Alouettes from 1947-to-1967 and in 1972.
But the stadium proved to be an albatross around their necks, what with the high rental, the enormous amount of empty seats which gave it a sterile atmosphere for games.

Given the lack of suitable soccer stadiums in Canada, it would be a bitter pill for Canadian soccer if a stadium in Montreal took itself out of the high-end international side of the sport by painting permanent football lines on the field.
The McGill decision could be crucial to the Canadian women's World Cup bid, especially when its rival for 2007 tournament host is France, which showcased its extensive collection of natural turf stadiums at the 1998 men's World Cup.
