One in five people in McHenry County have been touched in some way by an organization that receives United Way funding.
United Way of McHenry County is focusing this year on getting money that was donated by McHenry County residents who work outside the county back to McHenry County.
The result is that the United Way, and by extension the organizations it funds, have had to get by with less money even though McHenry County’s population is rising.

McHenry County was Established on January 16, 1836
The choice of name for the County was in honor of William McHenry, a pioneer of White County, soldier of the War of 1812 and the Black Hawk War, Representative in the first, fourth, fifth and ninth General Assemblies, and Senator in the sixth General Assembly.
