 | | PHILO ACKLEY, farmer and oil producer, Kendall Creek, was born in Cayuga county, N.Y., in 1821, a son of Ahiel and Clarissa (Olmstead) Ackley, natives of Connecticut, and farmers by occupation. |
 | | Sage was reared in Broome county, and received an ordinary education, after which he learned the carpenter’s trade, which he followed until April, 1876, when he came to McKean county, and worked at building oil rigs, or derricks, also at tool dressing and drilling. |
 | | In 1880 he came to McKean county, where he has since acted as superintendent for John Bird, of Bradford, and is also interested in several producing wells, being a member of the firm of Hughes and Williamson. |
