Bill McKechnie - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, McKechnie made his major league debut in 1907 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, appearing in 3 games, before reemerging with the team in 1910 in a more substantial role.
McKechnie got his first taste of managerial duties in 1915 when he managed 102 games for the Newark Pepper, leading the team to a 54-45 record.
McKechnie was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.

Inside McKechnie, fans moved closer to the field by expanding seating capacity from approximately 4,200 seats to more than 6,500 seats.

The money for the field came from the sale of programs and other items, according to Ted Czerwinski, president of the boosters club.

As a result of a feud with league president Ban Johnson, who rigidly enforced rules about rowdyism on the field of play, McGraw jumped leagues to manage the New York Giants in the middle of the 1902 season.
Consequently the field was known as Hilltop Park and the team became known as the New York Highlanders.
As the Highlanders the team enjoyed success only twice, finishing in second place in the American League in 1904 and 1910, but otherwise much of the next fifteen years was spent in the cellar.
