In Canada the McLaughlin family in Tyrone Ontario had the western worlds best suspension they moved there tiny carriage works to Oshawa and built there patented suspension for carriages and sold these components all over North America to other carriage builders.
In Toronto we have a planetarium donated by Sam that carries the family name and a street named after Sam's wife Adelaide.

hen Toronto's McLaughlin Planetarium was shuttered it seemed an entirely reasonable recession-inspired hibernation; quite like the self-imposed dormancy that hit Toronto's Art Gallery of Ontario, and similar conditions at the Canadian Opera Company and the Toronto Symphony that threatened programs, space or both.
However the Planetarium has a dubious distinction: It has never reopened; this despite the fact that its parent institution, the Royal Ontario Museum, has secured millions of dollars from multiple levels of government for a very visible expansion project.
The demolition of Falconer Hall was considered when the Planetarium was in its planning stage.

The first commercial Stellarium was installed in the Astrocentre of the Royal Ontario Museums McLaughlin planetarium in Toronto.
Unfortunately the planetarium itself was closed only a few years later when the museum had to cut costs.
